ICx Technologies GmbH (formerly Target Systemelectronic GmbH) is a German manufacturer of radiation measurement equipment founded in 1984. ICx Radiation Inc. (formerly known as Target Instruments, Inc.) was formed as a USA corporation in January of 2003. The initial intention was to establish a U.S. branch of Target Systemelectronic GmbH in order to provide prompt and professional service for North America and overseas customers.

Over the years ICx Radiation developed a special expertise in advanced miniaturized electronics for gamma radiation spectrometry. By 1992 ICx Radiation had already developed digital signal processing (DSP) devices for applications in spectroscopy. This groundbreaking technology was patented in co-operation with the Research Centre Jülich and, today, digital signal processing has become the basis of all high performance nuclear electronics. Many new, revolutionary instruments have been successfully introduced since that time. ICx Radiation’s various multi-channel analyzers are the core of many applied systems that have been developed for numerous special applications. Customers in nuclear medicine rely on ICx Radiation’s systems for accurate Iodine measurements; the steel industry uses ICx Radiation’s steel sample monitors; scrap companies use ICx Radiation’s detection electronics in cranes. Inspectors, police and customs authorities verify special radionuclides with ICx Radiation’s handheld instruments. ICx Radiation´s digital PC radiation measurement cards and detector plug-on instruments are also used in numerous standard applications in universities, research centers and industrial laboratories around the world. Since operations began in 2003, the U.S. facility has expanded beyond the initial sales support and service operation to include product R&D and manufacturing. To this day, in one fashion or another, every member of the company is dedicated to providing new products for security markets worldwide and to the support and training of the Homeland Security, environmental, medical and research customers.

The German and U.S. operations became a part of ICx Technologies in November 2005. ICx is dedicated to providing the most advanced technology available for the protection of our borders and the overall security of our homeland. Both facilities, in the U.S. and Germany, work seamlessly to present a consolidated and consistent entity to the world-wide marketplace.
